What is your style of photography? I do my best to create expressive, genuine photos that tell the story of your amazing wedding. I love capturing the small moments that often get overlooked throughout the day. Those sometimes end up being the favorites! As far as editing style goes, I try to deliver natural looking photos with just a hint of film style. Editing trends come and go, so keeping your photos timeless is one of my top priorities!
How much posing happens during the wedding day? Not too much. The day is probably around 75% photo journalism and 25% portraiture. Traditional posed photos are still a part of the day and I do usually pose the formal photos. However, during wedding party photos and photos of the bride and groom, I try to create genuine interactions between the subjects as much as I can so that the feel of the photos is authentic and relaxed.
How many hours of wedding photography do you offer? Trying to fit the events of your wedding day into a specific number of hours can be stressful! Instead, I keep it simple and offer one photography collection that includes full day coverage of all the important parts of your wedding. Every event is different, so the amount of hours generally tends to vary. Once we get close to the big day though, I meet up with my couples to create a custom wedding day timeline that outlines their coverage and helps to streamline the big day.
How many photographers will be at my wedding? Weddings can be crazy and I do my best to get every angle, but I'm only one person! That's why I try to bring a second photographer/assistant to every wedding I work. My wonderful and talented husband James is my go-to second shooter and he does an amazing job!
When will I get to see my photos? As soon as possible! I pride myself on an extremely fast deliver time. I guarantee your photos via online gallery within four weeks of your wedding, however you will definitely see a handful of them much sooner than that! I always post a few sneak peeks on social media within a few days of the wedding, and do my best to include a large selection of your photos in a blog post within a week or two.
How are my photos delivered? Regardless of which collection you choose, your photos will be delivered to you via an online gallery after they have been professionally edited. You will be able to view, print, share, and download your photos from the gallery. My favorite part of the online gallery is how easy it is to share the photos! Instead of making multiple copies of CD's or USB's for you friends and family, you can just send them a link to the photos. Easy peasy!
Do I have to buy prints from Missy Short Photography? Nope! You will have the option of printing through the online gallery (they are professional quality and they do turn out fabulous!) However, you are ultimately free to take your files and print them wherever you would like, and I'm 100% okay with that.
Do you travel for weddings? Definitely! I love an adventure (and a good road trip!) Mileage and overnight accommodations are asked for if your wedding is over 45 miles from Manhattan, MT. Mileage charges are 50 cents/mile round trip and overnight accommodations are $150/night. If you're getting married outside of Montana, let me know and I can get you more details on destination wedding photography!
How do I reserve my wedding date? To place your wedding in my calendar (yay!) a deposit of one third the total collection amount is required. The second third is due three months before your wedding, and the final balance is due one month before your wedding. Before we book the date, I also have my clients look over and sign a wedding photography contract that includes a model release, basic collection information, and other details that protect both parties.
